    A ten minute, gentle and scenic walk from Grasmere village brings you to the Forest Side Hotel. At the end of our long winding, tree enclosed drive stands the old Victorian hunting lodge of the Earls of Lonsdale. Built in 1953, it is surrounded by 43 acres of both landscaped and natural gardens which are home to all manor of country wild life including badger, deer, red squirrel and of course rabbits. Once inside, you will be greeted by a warm friendly smile, and in cooler weather, an even warmer roaring fire of which four are regularly lit. Two large lounges are available for you to relax, de-stress and enjoy a drink, in the company of new friends and old.
    The surrounding countryside defies all description. It's certainly possible to see where Wordsworth took his inspiration. Who knows it may even inspire you!
    From the creative romantic to the serious fell walker there is a side of Grasmere that everyone can fall in love with!
